Chapter 5 - The Cataclysm
The earth cracked, the seas boiled. The skies burned, and the cataclysmic event that would be known henceforth as the Megapocalypse, began. The event forced even some of the creatures that had not been involved in the war, to make their appearance. The great trials now forced even previously peaceful creatures to take up arms, in the battle to survive against the new hardships. However, many of these creatures were not accepted into the small bands that roamed the planet at that time. Instead, they banded together with each other, regardless of race or Civilization, and together became known as the Survivors, gaining a new, incredible ability. Through their unity and connection, they began to share their knowledge and abilities.
Seeing this, and noting their power, the Cyber Lords moved swiftly, creating a new Cyber Virus spy to infiltrate the ranks of these 'Survivors' and learn their secrets. Their power, almost always, less than that of other creatures with similar abilities, making it more difficult for them to survive alone, and so, they made up for these 'shortcomings' by unifying, each strengthening the other, until a full band of them could be an almost unstoppable force.
Yet, the cataclysms raged on, unleashing new destructive powers, harnessed by each of the Civilizations in its own way. Further cooperation was now required to keep things 'together', and even whilst the world spun off its axis and erupted in violent change all around them, the war continued, escalating further. Light's forces now adopted a seriously offense-based stance against the forces of Fire and Darkness. The forces of Fire watched as Light's army descended on their cities and encampments, Berserkers and Gladiators storming through the scorched skies. Not even the Armorloids deployed by the Humans, nor the most powerful of the Armored Wyverns deployed by the Dragonoids, seemed to stop their onslaught.
Light had made the sacrifice to activate one of the most powerful of the Elementals, in response to sightings of a Dragon so great that his power exceeded that of anything on the planet. The Dark Lords responded in kind, unleashing their ultimate, most terrifying weapon, the Annihilator, a beast so deadly and huge that everything in its path was destroyed, all allies being rent asunder upon its arrival.
The Water Civilization occasionally found themselves 'assisted' by the greatest of the Leviathans, whose waves could bring entire battlefields to stillness, sweeping away every combatant. Most secret of all, in the dark forests of Nature, the great Nocturnal Giant trained, biding his time for when his power would be needed. The cataclysm caused by the power unleashed in the war, seemed to have done nothing but cause the unleashing of greater power. New creatures began to appear, change, and evolve, until the turning point... |
